Diego Rivera: The Detroit Industry Murals
Commissioned by Edsel Ford to create a series of murals in a courtyard at the Detroit Institute of Arts, Diego Rivera produced what he considered his finest paintings in 1932–1933. This book reproduces the murals in great detail, including a folding poster of the North and South Walls, and offers historic photos of Rivera at work, the Ford Motor Company River Rouge plant and preparatory sketches and cartoons. Also documents the life of Rivera and his wife, Frida Kahlo, during their nine months in Detroit and the controversy that met the completed murals. Softcover. 202 pages. 7-3/4” x 12”.
