Diego Rivera North Wall Framed Poster
Bring an industrious spirit to your home or office. With his commission to paint four walls of a Detroit Institute of Arts courtyard, Mexican artist Diego Rivera(1886-1957) created what he considered the best work of his career. After weeks of preparation at a Ford Motor Company plant, he created Detroit Industry(1932-1933), a twenty-seven panel tribute to the city's manufacturing base and labor force, illustrating the manufacturing process from its roots in agriculture to the assembly of the finished product. In this detail from the North Wall's large central panel, workers move recently made engine blocks for the 1932 Ford V-8. All the important production and manufacturing operations are represented in this section of the frescos. Controversial at the time of their completion, the murals have become an enduring symbol of the spirit of Detroit citizens. Reproduced from the original fresco panel. Poster: 36” x 24”; double matted in a black wooden frame: 8221;.
