The Dodge Collection: Eighteenth-Century French and English Art in the Detroit Institute of Arts

The Dodge Collection: Eighteenth-Century French and English Art in the Detroit Institute of Arts

This beautifully illustrated exhibition catalog highlights one of the premier decorative arts collections, housed at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Auto heiress Anna Thomson Dodge's collection contains a variety of furniture, paintings, sculpture, tapestries, porcelain and and other objets d'art originally created for some of Europe's most distinguished royal families. The introduction to the catalog contains a brief account of Dodge's prominence in American society and the arts, as well as the design and construction of her elegant palatial home, Rose Terrace, which was demolished in 1976.
