Celadon Da Rang Kwyi Vase

This intricately hand-carved, round lattice vessel is double-fired and double-walled. The Celadon glaze is crackled, ranges in color from an olive- to a bluish-green, and was treasured by East Asians for its resemblance to highly prized  jade. These vases also feature delicate, painted images of storks and clouds.

Celadon is an art form that dates back 1,500 years. Celadon glazes were jealously guarded for centuries and did not reach Europe until the 14^th century. Contemporary Celadon artists are primarily concentrated in just two South Korean villages.
